I am going to have a booth at the Endless Mtns Fiber Festival in September..... and I'm trying to loose a few pounds for the wedding so I got me a Wii and several games now if I can only get my rumpus on it regularly!!!!

Ta, Ta for now!

All Hallows Eve.......

.... So here is my latest finished spinning project. I purchased 4/1 oz. batts from BohoKnitterChic (unable to link at this time) and she had a SAL (Spin a long) for the month of October. I finished this in the knick of time!!Even the batts were "smooth" because there were different types of fiber such as angelina, bamboo etc... I had a hard time spinning this thin. Which is what I wanted to do in order to make socks. It ended up being sort of a worsted weight, after plying, so I think I'm going to make a scarf. All of the SAL projects are being voted on in her group on Ravelry. I know I will not win, but I've got like 8 votes and I'm happy with that, but mostly I'm happy that I participated in a SAL and finished in the time I was given!!

Rather Red...

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 200px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_yDhYR6jIpnU/StIxG08JdWI/AAAAAAAAAMY/t1bA8AYpJIw/s200/100_0628%5B1%5D" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391425697275802978" />
<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 150px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_yDhYR6jIpnU/StIwtZxW7XI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/Oh_F8AtqbNE/s200/100_0626%5B1%5D" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391425260486061426" />
...well, I'm on vacation..... spent the afternoon doing some dying for the "4 Weeks of Halloween" club and decieded to dye some yarn that was given to me awhile ago..
I've got 5 total, 100gm skeins of an alpaca/wool mix. I believe it to be a sport weight yarn, not sure yet of the yardage. 2 skeins are a lighter brown than the other 3 but I dyed them all red. The pictures are the before and after of the lighter brown. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I've been thinking about a "honeycomb" vest..... it will depend on how much yardage I have....
Now that I have my camera hooked up to the computer, I'm hoping to A) Blog more and B) post more pics!!! And the last picture is of the baby sweater I made for Tracy's baby.... Tracy is Tracy99 on Ravelry and part of our knitting group that meets at Barne's & Noble on Tuesday nights. She is due this October, the weekend of Rhinebeck!!!! He got it from http://www.artclub.etsy.com I love it and have spun up just a few skiens. I'd really like to get some more time on it, but I always seem to be working or just too tired. Luckily our knitting group has decided to dedicate Sundays to being spin day and are taking turns at hosting in our homes. I'm looking forward to hosting myself this fall......

Birthday guests.....

So, from left to right we have: my tattoed freak-of-a-brother, Charlie (love ya bro and i'm fairly tattooed and freaky myself!!), my georgeous cousin Heidi, and my beautiful daughter, Alex.... In the next pic is my Poppy, who is on oxygen due to COPD and is in 4th stage kidney failure. On the right of me is his girlfriend Yvonne and on Poppy's left is my Aunt Pat. I'm so glad that they were all able to share this day with me. We had dinner at the Fuji San on the Vestal Parkway. This one is mine. It's a Viking Wolfhead..... I found a pendent in a mag that we get and thought it would make a great tattoo. Since most of the hubs tats are viking type stuff, I thought it would be a good symbol instead of getting his name branded on my body!! When I asked him if he ever thought of getting a tattoo to symbolize me, guess what he said? "Nope". Shocker!!!! That's the hubs for ya! Anyways, it was a great ride. We left around 10am and got there around 1pm. It was my first serious highway ride and bigger city type riding.... lot's of heavy traffic. We didn't get home until 10:30pm and I was freezing, stiff, and sore! Also being kindof a baby too!! All and all the hubs says i'm doing great and is still gonna "let" me go on the "south" trip in October with him and the nephew... I feel so privileged!!!! We're also planning on a Social Distortion concert at Northern Lights in October also. Lot's 'O fun planned for the fall!!!!

Let's get ready to rumble........

....... the name is Twiggi Titti Twister and I'm entered in the Super-Heavyweight, Semi-Pro, Flying Clothesline event!!!! I've been wanting to participate in the Sock Knitter's Anonymous, Sockdown competion for awhile, but I can never seem to get it together in time.... shocker!!! Any who.... For this month, you had to pick a pattern on Ravelry that had less than 15 projects. This pattern is "Loops" and it didn't have any projects so I believe that I am the first. When I found the pattern, I remembered that it had been a suggested pattern for a sock club shipment that I had recieved from Tempted - sock club, the yarn was "Red Hat Society". So I got out the yarn and the pattern and cast on!!!!

I had to make some adjustments, such as: I used #2 circular needles and the pattern called for #5's , the pattern called for worsted weight yarn and of course, I used fingering weight. It also called for 48 stitch cast on , but it seemed to me to be a 15 stitch pattern repeat so I cast on 60 stitches....

I finished these about two weeks ago, but I just got around to taking the picture this morning so that I could post and therefore enter the contest. I hope I'm a winner!!! On Ravelry, in the Sock Knitter's Anonymous group, I am participating in my first Sockdown!!! It's a monthly challenge with a new theme every month. This month is the Unappreciated sock pattern or knee high's. I chose the unappreciated "loops" pattern that was suggested by Shelly of Loops, in Tulsa, OK when she sent this Tempted - Good Grrl club sock in the "Red Hat Society" colorway.

I started on 4/6/09 and i'm on the toe as of right now.... I actually haven't spun in awhile!

First, the spindle. I had this created for me by Shannon at Spinsanity Spindles . Didn't she do a fantastic job!! It looks exactly like the picture that I sent her. And it spins like a dream...

Second, is the fiber. It's a Merino/Tencel blend that I recieved in a fiber club from Knit Fits. I have about 2/3rds of the 30z done. Not sure when I think it will get done. It's just something that I pick up from time to time. I do hope to use it as a sock yarn. The club came with patterns for socks also.

Speaking of sock clubs...... I will be announceing my first ever sock club on my Etsy site and on Ravelry next week. I'm doing this club with my good pal Bugaboo (on Ravelry) aka Stephanie!! We are pretty excited about this...

Tah Tah for now!

And the winner is.......

Sorry...... We went riding for about four hours on Saturday. It was fantastic, once I left the driveway!! I stalled it about six times.:(
I haven't ridden my own scoot for about 2-3years so it took a bit to remember how it goes :)
After the intial "gettin goin", I did pretty well. My DH was very patient and supportive. Hoping for nice weather again on Saturday as the hubs and I again have the day off together and would like to go riding again. My knitting buddy Georg was the teacher and person who invited me :)

Seriously!!!???

It's a damn shame that here I have this blog...and lot's of things going on....and I'm not sharing it!!! So, where to start.... ok, non-knitting stuff: I bought a 2001 Harley Davidson Super Glide!!!! Yep, that's right, I'm a biker chick! Well, I have been for about 6 years now, but I sold my 1986 Honda Rebel a couple of years ago and just haven't replaced it. My DH also rides, he owns a 1997 HD, Wide Glide. We went riding together on Saturday and it was a blast!!!! I bought a sticker that says "Knitter Girl" and it's going on my back fender!

Knitting news: I finished the Einstein Coat, I don't have pics of the finished coat yet. I am also about finished with the Ultra Femme sweater. Again, no new pics, but maybe my next post.

I have been helping out my pal Gwynivar from Holiday Yarns get ready for the opening of her store in the Shoppingtown Plaza. (Dewitt, NY). It's very exciting as it will not only carry yarns (her's and others indie dyers!!) but it will be more about learning to knit, weave and spin yarns!!!

This post is mainly for me to get blogging again. Sorry no pictures. I'm making a promise to myself to be a better blogger.....

Tah, Tah for now!

February Blues.....

So now I know why I don't blog all the time, I have such a hard time trying to link things, get frustrated, loose anything that I've written, urgghh!!!

Ok, lets try this again. I'm trying to tell you about the sweater that I knit for my sister-in-law, Martha. The pattern is "Cosima" by Berroco. Made with Peruvia Quick, also by Berroco. I do have to say, it turned out loverly!!! Will attempt to post a pic here. Ok, still not able to..... Now see, if you were on Ravelry you could look on my projects page and see it here. I've done some dying of sock weight yarn and even though I've not had much success on my etsy site or on yarnygoodness, I have been able to sell some at my local LYS and to my wonderful friends.

I am currently participating in a St. Patty's Day swap. My swap person live in the UK. I'm excited, as I've never had an international partner before. Not much going on I guess. Lots of knitting, always knitting! I recently learned how to spin on a drop spindle, so I do a little of that now. I've definately caught the spinning bug and would love to get a wheel! I have several spindles getting filled with singles, but have yet to ply any of them. I will try to get pictures when I do. Here is where I would like to get a wheel. I saw one at Rhinebeck. I didn't try it though. My DH love Vermont, so I'm gonna try to talk him into a trip this spring. Speaking of Rhinebeck (aka the sheep & wool festival) I'll leave you with a picture of me and my peeps taking a brief rest from shopping at the Fest!

No, I haven't disappeared....

Shoot-Alot! The first sock for my DH completed and second sock started.

Tah, Tah for now.

More Creations

So here are my accomplishments from last week.... I'm calling them (left) Neg-Patriot and (right) Orange Pecan. I really enjoy the process and am trying to learn how to control the color. I need to get better at color intensity. Also going to try to sell some on Etsy. In other knitting news... I finished the hat/kimono for the new nephew. I have not heard if he has made it into the world yet. Here are the results:
The first thing I did was to soak the skeins in water/vinegar solution for about 4hrs. Then I got out all of the supplies that I had been collecting for such an occasion and began mixing up dyes. The first set of dyes I use were RIT. I mixed the dry dye into a jar of water/vinegar solution ( I did not use any type of measurement, just "a little here-a little there) then I put the solution into a squit bottle. I started out with the skein on the right. I first used a yellow, then red, then black. As you can see the yellow disappeared!! I think I squirted too much dye and too close together. I then wrapped it up in clear plastic wrap and stuck it in the microwave for a minute or two. I think it could have use one more ZAP but I was anxious to see results. Not bad but also not exactly what I was looking for. So, on to the second skein. The one on the left I used Wilson Cake dyes. Mixed it with the same water/vinegar solution and applied it the same way. The cakes dyes are more like a jelly and even though I thought they were mixed well, The colors came out spotty and multi-colored. For instance, the blue came out purple and blue, the green were a few different shades of green and what was supposed to be "burgandy' came out pink. Again, not bad, but not what I was looking for. By the way, the black and yellow on the left skein are the RIT dyes and I also nuked this skein a few times. I then rinsed in luke warm water and left them to dry. I like the way they look in the skeins!!!! So much so that I don't want to wind them into balls or knit them up into socks!!!

Lots of knitting....no post?

I am a bad, bad blogger........

Of the list from the last post only the short socks for me got finished. This is a class I took at Spin A Yarn last month.

I thought that since the pattern started at the toe, that I would learn how to knit a sock from the toe up. However, it was more a "modular" knitting class. So I feel like I got two classes out of one!! Lucky me!

Had my 39th birthday last month....... not so bad I guess. Only one more year in my thirties :(

I just don't feel like I am almost forty.

My baby girl (17) is graduating from high school tomorrow! Now that should make me feel old, but it doesn't. I'm glad she's becoming an adult. She's a wonderful girl and I enjoy watching her grow up!!

So there are my thoughts for today. However, I am glad to have participated and will probably try it again next time!!

I really have much to show you and blog........next time.

Sorry this pic is so little.....I could not fix it

I don't know why....

I haven't posted in so long!!! Sorry, I do not have the label with me for color.

The socks on the right, the purple-ish color, are the Lorna's Laces-Mother Lode I received from my "Sock Knitters Unite" swap partner. The pattern is Dublin Bay by Mossy Cottage.

So that's some of what I've been up to. My stash has increased IMMENSELY!!! Like, I've got a problem!!!!

Tah, Tah for now!!

Got Mine!!!

Look what I got from the "Toothfairy" aka: Aimee in Ann Arbor, MI!!!!

She did a really great job. Although today I feel as if I could. I've been so sick with a cold, or sinus or whatever causes one to constantly sneeze, hack, cough and blow your nose till it's red and sore!!!

I'm also guilty of being hooked to the knitter's crack: Ralvary!!!!!!

I've joined several groups, do alot of reading but little commenting. I also read another dozen or so blogs!!

Not much new here. I've started another pair of socks. These are for my Dad, his birthday is March. I'm also hoping to help a fellow knitter with a project that she is working on that needs to be done in early March.

FO news: Back in December, I went to the Post Office to collect our mail and in the lobby was Nancy from Spin a Yarn. She was there supporting the Christmas postage and had a contest going. I WON!! So, what did I win? Well, I won a skein of "Comfort" by Berroco, a pair of size 8/16" circs, her "Cozy Cap" pattern book and some Spin a Yarn sticky notes. Last week I was in between projects so I decided to start a beaded hat, using my winnings, for the Cozy Cap project. I finished it but haven't dropped it off yet.

Well, that's it for today folks!
Tah, Tah, for now.

Christmas gifts

So, I don't think I have mentioned yet the great gifts my wonderful, DH gave me for Christmas. I had asked for Gift Certificates to spend at The Loopy Ewe and for Blue Moon Fiber Arts. He was not sold on the idea of just wrapping up gc's, he wanted me to open "gifts"! So he bought me this beautiful wooden box, inside the box was a purple silk scarf with Celtic crosses in gold/green and wrapped in the scarf were 4 (FOUR!) gc's!!! 1.) for The Loopy Ewe 2.) for LYS: Spin a Yarn 3.) for our local Mall and 4.) for a Massage.... DH said that the cut outs in the box reminded him of the flowers in Hex signs, something else that I love.

He also gave me an Umbrella Swift. I had a very nice Christmas.

Almost finished.....

So here is a pic of the first sock (that is just a few rows from done) of the Artwalk 'Toreador" colorway done in Tidal Wave pattern.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend :^)

Happy 2008!

Hey!!!! Sorry I have not posted in such a long time!! So glad to have the holidays over but pretty bummed that vacation is also done.......:(

While on vacation, I knit on a sock with yarn from Artwalk Club. OF COURSE I did not do a guage swatch as I have knit plenty of socks and "think" I know what I'm doing!! So I got the leg, heel and 1/2 of foot done before I decided that it did seem pretty small and maybe I should try it on.................yep, should have done a guage swatch!! So the whole thing went back to stash!!

I then started a sweater that has been in the stash since almost the beginning........back and two fronts done, part of sleeve...............yep, got kinda of bored and had a sock jones!!

So I am now working on firsts of two pairs!! One yarn from Artwalk Club, the other Claudia handpainted in "Bootcamp". Both really great projects to be working on. Although, I might have to put them down for a while to work on Birthday socks for the nephew. Who, by the way will be shipping out to sea in a couple of weeks due to a new job as a merchant marine!!

Tah, Tah for now!!

Almost vacation!!

So, I'm counting down the hours till I go on vacation till after the new year.

I finished every thing on my Christmas list of knitting. Here are the boot socks and my pop's hat. Thank you DH for being my model!!

No particular plans for the vacation other than relaxing and knitting. I have started a big needle/big yarn sweater for self....this is a project that I've had stashed away for awhile now. Since most of my sweater projects don't seem to work out for one reason or another, I'm curious to see what happens. I'm really hoping that Santa brings me a yarn umbrella!! I have a winder and two nights ago I began to wind up the "Monet" that I recieved from the Art Walk Sock Club and it ended up a big knotty mess. I've spent the last two evenings trying to work it out.... almost there........I think the Karma or whatever decieded that if I had successfully wound the yarn I would be working on socks instead of the sweater I started!!!!

I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and a Happy New Year!!!

Tah Tah til 2008!

They're here!!

My Artwalk sock club yarn from Roxanne at Zen Yarn Garden arrived yesterday!! I have no pics for you. And I have been completely frustrated by the starting of the #2 boot sock. I started it 4 times!!!! The first time, I cast on the correct number of stitches, but when I divided them by two (as I knit with two circs) my "I don't have a math brain" decided that 72 divided by 2 = 32?!?! And took off some stitches ......So after knitting the cuff and then beginning the pattern I realized what I had done! So, I cast on again, again having knitted the cuff, beginning the pattern, I then lost a stitch and could not seem to get it back again!! OK, cast on # 3, somehow the K2P2 cuff wasn't working out for me with in the first 2-3 rows (I don't know what I did) so out of complete frustration I frogged it, set it down, and started my Pop's hat!!!! Apparently I needed a break from socks.....

So I am about 5-6" into a really handsome hat, I have cast on for a fourth time for the boot socks and believe I am back on the path to "Christmas present enlightenment"!

Tah, Tah for now.

On schedule

So here's the progress that I made over the Thanksgiving weekend. So sorry for the poor picture quality. The shading effect of the yarn is really nice. Different shades of grey and blue.... These socks are for a man, so I expect them to take me a little longer, but I'm hoping to stay on schedule and start the second one by the weekend. I'm actually farther along into the foot now, as this pic was taken 2 days ago.

The weekend was blessedly low key. In fact I didn't move farther from the couch than the bathroom for two days!! My husband did all the cooking and it was delicious!! My Pops went into the hospital for pnuemonia on Saturday but he was released yesterday and is much better.

A little back ground: I grew up mainly with my father's parents and my grandmother passed away 20 years ago. My Pops is kinda like a father to me...... he's getting older and his health is not so good...so I'm very concerned about the time we have left with him.

Anyways, 3 1/2 weeks till the next vacation (sitting on my couch with knitting!!) I'm hoping for at least 3 days of couch time in the 11 days I have off.

Tah, Tah for now!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!! Lots of knitting over the weekend on the 2nd sock from my last post. Turned the heel this morning. I figure I will be able to start some boot socks (the third and final sock project for Christmas) while on the Thanksgiving holiday. I actually sat down and wrote out a projects list this weekend also. Lots to do!! I'm hoping it will keep my spending down on yarn. I really enjoy spending $$ on yarn, but I needed a reality check on what I've got already!!! Know what I mean?

After the boot socks, it will be on to a hat for my Pops, who is 82 and possibly a scarf for his lady....

A pic!!!

Yea!!!! As I said before I'm blog-uneducated and as you are figuring out, not very educated on how to use a computer. So please forgive....

I recently finished a pair of socks for self!! I'm wearing them today. I used Trekking in a magenta color (sorry, I don't have the label here at work!) The pattern is from the "Sensational Socks" book by Charlene Schurch. I'm so sorry if I spelled her last name incorrectly. I'm almost finished with a pair of short socks made with handspun from Maple Creek farms that I picked up at the Pennsylvania Fiber Festival in Hartford, Pa two months ago. It's a lt. blue/brown color called "Pond Rocks". I made the pattern myself with some help from the "Harmony Guide to stiches" book. These socks will be a Christmas gift. I am knitting 3 pairs of socks for Christmas and I have 1 1/2 pairs to go before December 25th. Not worried!!!

Have a great weekend!

Hello Blog World!

I love reading other knitting blogs.
