Almost vacation!!

So, I'm counting down the hours till I go on vacation till after the new year.

I finished every thing on my Christmas list of knitting. Here are the boot socks and my pop's hat. Thank you DH for being my model!!
No particular plans for the vacation other than relaxing and knitting. I have started a big needle/big yarn sweater for self....this is a project that I've had stashed away for awhile now. Since most of my sweater projects don't seem to work out for one reason or another, I'm curious to see what happens. I'm really hoping that Santa brings me a yarn umbrella!! I have a winder and two nights ago I began to wind up the "Monet" that I recieved from the Art Walk Sock Club and it ended up a big knotty mess. I've spent the last two evenings trying to work it out.... almost there........I think the Karma or whatever decieded that if I had successfully wound the yarn I would be working on socks instead of the sweater I started!!!!
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and a Happy New Year!!!
Tah Tah til 2008!

They're here!!

My Artwalk sock club yarn from Roxanne at Zen Yarn Garden arrived yesterday!! I just signed up for it last month so I also ordered a few previous months colorways. From left to right: Salvidor Dahli "Toreador", Monet "In the garden", VanGogh "Starry Night" and this months: Georgia O'Keefe. this is the pic on the right.

I also recieved an order from The Loopy Ewe (cuz I had a yarn jones) This is "Hunter" by Gypsy Knits. This is the pic on the left.

Christmas knitting update: I finished my Poppy's hat (will post pic later) and I turned the heel on #2 boot sock this morning. Hoping to start scarf very, very soon.

I can't wait to start knitting some of the above yarn into some socks for ME!!

Tah, Tah for now!

#2 Boot sock or bust!!

I haven't posted in about two weeks. I have no pics for you. And I have been completely frustrated by the starting of the #2 boot sock. I started it 4 times!!!! The first time, I cast on the correct number of stitches, but when I divided them by two (as I knit with two circs) my "I don't have a math brain" decided that 72 divided by 2 = 32?!?! And took off some stitches ......So after knitting the cuff and then beginning the pattern I realized what I had done! So, I cast on again, again having knitted the cuff, beginning the pattern, I then lost a stitch and could not seem to get it back again!! OK, cast on # 3, somehow the K2P2 cuff wasn't working out for me with in the first 2-3 rows (I don't know what I did) so out of complete frustration I frogged it, set it down, and started my Pop's hat!!!! Apparently I needed a break from socks.....

So I am about 5-6" into a really handsome hat, I have cast on for a fourth time for the boot socks and believe I am back on the path to "Christmas present enlightenment"!

Tah, Tah for now.

On schedule

So here's the progress that I made over the Thanksgiving weekend. So sorry for the poor picture quality. The shading effect of the yarn is really nice. Different shades of grey and blue.... These socks are for a man, so I expect them to take me a little longer, but I'm hoping to stay on schedule and start the second one by the weekend. I'm actually farther along into the foot now, as this pic was taken 2 days ago.
The weekend was blessedly low key. In fact I didn't move farther from the couch than the bathroom for two days!! My husband did all the cooking and it was delicious!! My Pops went into the hospital for pnuemonia on Saturday but he was released yesterday and is much better.
A little back ground: I grew up mainly with my father's parents and my grandmother passed away 20 years ago. My Pops is kinda like a father to me...... he's getting older and his health is not so good...so I'm very concerned about the time we have left with him.
Anyways, 3 1/2 weeks till the next vacation (sitting on my couch with knitting!!) I'm hoping for at least 3 days of couch time in the 11 days I have off.
Tah, Tah for now!

Some older FO's

I thought I would post some older socks that I have knit for relatives. These were birthday gifts. The socks on the left were for my brother, knit on#3 circs with Lana Grassa boot socks. The socks on the right were for my Aunt P, knit on #2 circs with Lang Jawoll.

Monday, Monday...

Thank goodness for a three day week!! Lots of knitting over the weekend on the 2nd sock from my last post. Turned the heel this morning. I figure I will be able to start some boot socks (the third and final sock project for Christmas) while on the Thanksgiving holiday. I actually sat down and wrote out a projects list this weekend also. Lots to do!! I'm hoping it will keep my spending down on yarn. I really enjoy spending $$ on yarn, but I needed a reality check on what I've got already!!! Know what I mean?

After the boot socks, it will be on to a hat for my Pops, who is 82 and possibly a scarf for his lady....

A pic!!!

Yea!!!! I figured out how to post a pic!! This is 1 of a pair of socks that I am knitting as a Christmas gift. The yarn is black purl from Lorna's Laces and the pattern is the Elongated Corded Rib from Sensational Socks. My nephew made the sock blockers for me. Thank you B!!

Coming soon....

Since I actually write this blog from work (shhhhh!) and not from home, I have not yet figured out how I'm going to put pics in my post. As I said before I'm blog-uneducated and as you are figuring out, not very educated on how to use a computer. So please forgive....

I recently finished a pair of socks for self!! I'm wearing them today. I used Trekking in a magenta color (sorry, I don't have the label here at work!) The pattern is from the "Sensational Socks" book by Charlene Schurch. I'm so sorry if I spelled her last name incorrectly. I'm almost finished with a pair of short socks made with handspun from Maple Creek farms that I picked up at the Pennsylvania Fiber Festival in Hartford, Pa two months ago. It's a lt. blue/brown color called "Pond Rocks". I made the pattern myself with some help from the "Harmony Guide to stiches" book. These socks will be a Christmas gift. I am knitting 3 pairs of socks for Christmas and I have 1 1/2 pairs to go before December 25th. Not worried!!!

Have a great weekend!

Hello Blog World!

I love reading other knitting blogs. I i've been wanting to start my own, so here I am. I knit ALOT! In fact, if i'm not working or doing other things that I don't really want to do, I'm knitting!! My favorite thing to knit is socks and I have more stash than i'll ever be able to knit.

So this will be a work in progress as I'm not really blog educated.....

Tah Tah for now.
