All Hallows Eve.......

.... So here is my latest finished spinning project. I purchased 4/1 oz. batts from BohoKnitterChic (unable to link at this time) and she had a SAL (Spin a long) for the month of October. I finished this in the knick of time!!Even the batts were "smooth" because there were different types of fiber such as angelina, bamboo etc... I had a hard time spinning this thin. Which is what I wanted to do in order to make socks. It ended up being sort of a worsted weight, after plying, so I think I'm going to make a scarf. All of the SAL projects are being voted on in her group on Ravelry. I know I will not win, but I've got like 8 votes and I'm happy with that, but mostly I'm happy that I participated in a SAL and finished in the time I was given!!

Rather Red...

...well, I'm on vacation..... spent the afternoon doing some dying for the "4 Weeks of Halloween" club and decieded to dye some yarn that was given to me awhile ago..
I've got 5 total, 100gm skeins of an alpaca/wool mix. I believe it to be a sport weight yarn, not sure yet of the yardage. 2 skeins are a lighter brown than the other 3 but I dyed them all red. The pictures are the before and after of the lighter brown. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I've been thinking about a "honeycomb" vest..... it will depend on how much yardage I have....
Now that I have my camera hooked up to the computer, I'm hoping to A) Blog more and B) post more pics!!! We'll see how this week goes...

Long time.....

...since I posted!! So I thought I would show you what I have been up to, or some of it anyways.....
The top left picture is of the red scarf I'm making out of Holiday Yarns fingering sock weight yarn... it's ALOT longer than the picture and I'm hoping to have it finished and wear it this Friday for "First Friday" at Spin A Yarn. Yes, yours truley is the "Artist of the Month"!!!! The next picture: The blue sweater. I started this sweater about 4 years ago for my sister-in-law Liz. I finished it this July and sadly.... it does not fit her!! But the good news is that I have 5 sister-in-laws and it does fit sister Kate!!!! And the last picture is of the baby sweater I made for Tracy's baby.... Tracy is Tracy99 on Ravelry and part of our knitting group that meets at Barne's & Noble on Tuesday nights. She is due this October, the weekend of Rhinebeck!!!! Congradulations Tracy and Kevin!!!
Well that's it for now..... not too much spinning lately but lots of participation for the PhatFiber box..... more on that later....

Birthday gift......

....My wonderful husband got this Fricke S160 for me and it came with all of this loverly fiber!! He got it from http://www.artclub.etsy.com I love it and have spun up just a few skiens. I'd really like to get some more time on it, but I always seem to be working or just too tired. Luckily our knitting group has decided to dedicate Sundays to being spin day and are taking turns at hosting in our homes. I'm looking forward to hosting myself this fall......

Birthday guests.....

So, from left to right we have: my tattoed freak-of-a-brother, Charlie (love ya bro and i'm fairly tattooed and freaky myself!!), my georgeous cousin Heidi, and my beautiful daughter, Alex.... In the next pic is my Poppy, who is on oxygen due to COPD and is in 4th stage kidney failure. On the right of me is his girlfriend Yvonne and on Poppy's left is my Aunt Pat. I'm so glad that they were all able to share this day with me. We had dinner at the Fuji San on the Vestal Parkway. This is one of my favorite places to eat and I usually get to go there on my birthday.... I'm also so happy that my Pops was able to come..............

Did I tell ya???

....That I turned the big 40 this year???? That's me and the hubs and my birthday dinner back in May.... If we look ginormous, well that's because we are!!!! We've both put on some serious weight since our nuptuals 4 years ago...... I'm going to post more pics of the party and my one loverly birthday gift from the hubs.... although this will post last... bare with me!

new tattoo and a ride......

On Friday the hubs and I rode our motorcycles up to Troy, NY for tattoos! This one is mine. It's a Viking Wolfhead..... I found a pendent in a mag that we get and thought it would make a great tattoo. Since most of the hubs tats are viking type stuff, I thought it would be a good symbol instead of getting his name branded on my body!! When I asked him if he ever thought of getting a tattoo to symbolize me, guess what he said? "Nope". Shocker!!!! That's the hubs for ya! Anyways, it was a great ride. We left around 10am and got there around 1pm. It was my first serious highway ride and bigger city type riding.... lot's of heavy traffic. We didn't get home until 10:30pm and I was freezing, stiff, and sore! Also being kindof a baby too!! All and all the hubs says i'm doing great and is still gonna "let" me go on the "south" trip in October with him and the nephew... I feel so privileged!!!! We're also planning on a Social Distortion concert at Northern Lights in October also. Lot's 'O fun planned for the fall!!!!

Let's get ready to rumble........

....... the name is Twiggi Titti Twister and I'm entered in the Super-Heavyweight, Semi-Pro, Flying Clothesline event!!!! I'm going to try and finish SIL, Liz's sweater.... The event is for your team to finish as many WIP's (works in progress) as possible. I'll be lucky if I can finish this. Although I do have the back done and part of the front....
So it seems that the July sock for the "Knitting Purls Indie Sock Club" is somewhat succesfful. I've gotten two replys on the thread saying that they like the socks and are knitting them as we speak (read). We've also had some very good responses about the Summer Sock Club by Twiggi Knits and Stephanie...

Happy 4th O'July to ya!!! I'm off to a Drop Kick Murphy's concert in Canandaigua, NY this evening!!!!

SKA submission...

So on April 6, 2009 I began to cast on for these socks. I've been wanting to participate in the Sock Knitter's Anonymous, Sockdown competion for awhile, but I can never seem to get it together in time.... shocker!!! Any who.... For this month, you had to pick a pattern on Ravelry that had less than 15 projects. This pattern is "Loops" and it didn't have any projects so I believe that I am the first. When I found the pattern, I remembered that it had been a suggested pattern for a sock club shipment that I had recieved from Tempted - sock club, the yarn was "Red Hat Society". So I got out the yarn and the pattern and cast on!!!!
I had to make some adjustments, such as: I used #2 circular needles and the pattern called for #5's , the pattern called for worsted weight yarn and of course, I used fingering weight. It also called for 48 stitch cast on , but it seemed to me to be a 15 stitch pattern repeat so I cast on 60 stitches....
I finished these about two weeks ago, but I just got around to taking the picture this morning so that I could post and therefore enter the contest. I hope I'm a winner!!! They have quite a few prizes to give away......

Sockdown!! April

I can't explain why the pic on the left is so small and the one on the right seems normal!!!!

Anyways.... On Ravelry, in the Sock Knitter's Anonymous group, I am participating in my first Sockdown!!! It's a monthly challenge with a new theme every month. This month is the Unappreciated sock pattern or knee high's. I chose the unappreciated "loops" pattern that was suggested by Shelly of Loops, in Tulsa, OK when she sent this Tempted - Good Grrl club sock in the "Red Hat Society" colorway.

I started on 4/6/09 and i'm on the toe as of right now.... This pic was taken Friday night.
I'm hoping to start the second sock today and be done this week sometime.

Spinning....

I thought I'd tell you about the spinning I've been doing, or WAS doing.... I actually haven't spun in awhile!
First, the spindle. I had this created for me by Shannon at Spinsanity Spindles . Didn't she do a fantastic job!! It looks exactly like the picture that I sent her. And it spins like a dream...
Second, is the fiber. It's a Merino/Tencel blend that I recieved in a fiber club from Knit Fits. I have about 2/3rds of the 30z done. Not sure when I think it will get done. It's just something that I pick up from time to time. I do hope to use it as a sock yarn. The club came with patterns for socks also.
Speaking of sock clubs...... I will be announceing my first ever sock club on my Etsy site and on Ravelry next week. I'm doing this club with my good pal Bugaboo (on Ravelry) aka Stephanie!! We are pretty excited about this...
Tah Tah for now!

a blue bike!!

So this is the 2001 HD Super Glide that I purchased last Friday. We went riding for about four hours on Saturday. It was fantastic, once I left the driveway!! I stalled it about six times.:(
I haven't ridden my own scoot for about 2-3years so it took a bit to remember how it goes :)
After the intial "gettin goin", I did pretty well. My DH was very patient and supportive. Hoping for nice weather again on Saturday as the hubs and I again have the day off together and would like to go riding again. Who knows, maybe I'll ride to "Knit Night" tonight!!!

Cool!!!

Well, one day into the contest and I've got 8 followers!!!! You guys Rock!!!! Of course I've heard from a few who say they follow the blog, but have not signed up to be a "follower" you guys rock also!!!!! But, if you don't sign up, you will not be entered to win.....:(
So I've posted two pics: the first one is the Celtic Cable Neckwarmer that I knit for my St. Patty's Day swap partner, RellyB in the United Kingdom. She totally liked it and claims she wore it around the house the first day....
The second is the Wee Mini Sock that I made while attending a recent Schola at a SCA event. My knitting buddy Georg was the teacher and person who invited me :)

Seriously!!!???

It's a damn shame that here I have this blog...and lot's of things going on....and I'm not sharing it!!! So, where to start.... ok, non-knitting stuff: I bought a 2001 Harley Davidson Super Glide!!!! Yep, that's right, I'm a biker chick! Well, I have been for about 6 years now, but I sold my 1986 Honda Rebel a couple of years ago and just haven't replaced it. My DH also rides, he owns a 1997 HD, Wide Glide. We went riding together on Saturday and it was a blast!!!! I bought a sticker that says "Knitter Girl" and it's going on my back fender!

Knitting news: I finished the Einstein Coat, I don't have pics of the finished coat yet. I am also about finished with the Ultra Femme sweater. Again, no new pics, but maybe my next post.

I have been helping out my pal Gwynivar from Holiday Yarns get ready for the opening of her store in the Shoppingtown Plaza. (Dewitt, NY). It's very exciting as it will not only carry yarns (her's and others indie dyers!!) but it will be more about learning to knit, weave and spin yarns!!!

This post is mainly for me to get blogging again. Sorry no pictures. I'm making a promise to myself to be a better blogger.....

Tah, Tah for now!

February Blues.....

So now I know why I don't blog all the time, I have such a hard time trying to link things, get frustrated, loose anything that I've written, urgghh!!!

Ok, lets try this again. I'm trying to tell you about the sweater that I knit for my sister-in-law, Martha. The pattern is "Cosima" by Berroco. Made with Peruvia Quick, also by Berroco. I do have to say, it turned out loverly!!! Will attempt to post a pic here. Ok, still not able to..... Now see, if you were on Ravelry you could look on my projects page and see it here. I've done some dying of sock weight yarn and even though I've not had much success on my etsy site or on yarnygoodness, I have been able to sell some at my local LYS and to my wonderful friends.

I am currently participating in a St. Patty's Day swap. My swap person live in the UK. I'm excited, as I've never had an international partner before. I've already sent her a package as a suprise, now I will try to send out the rest by the end of February.

Well, that's all for now! Have a great weekend.
